I had a chance to spend two admirable months in corporate finance department of GILD bankers in Vilnius. At first I thought that I will get only small tasks, but it turned out that I was equal to others: I had space for my own decisions and participated in discussions about day-to-day issues.

I really enjoyed my main duties: preparation of a report on one of the Lithuanian sectors and updating the macroeconomic review. I had to decide which information is important, how to analyze and present it in a professional manner. The feedback was given often, but it was more like a discussion: I and supervisor looked through results, my suggestions were accepted and further improvements were decided.

Sometimes I was given additional tasks, like compiling tables of statistical data, but every time I was deepening my technical skills: I improved my proficiency in working with Windows Office. That might sound trivial, but it is very important not only to make good analysis, but to present it in high quality.

Moreover, colleagues in GILD bankers are very friendly and helpful. If I did not now something, everyone was willing to help. After my internship I was invited to the Summer Days of Vilnius office. We went on canoes and spent evening in homestead with sauna and karaoke. Which was great fun – GILD bankers really know how to party!

This internship was way better than I have expected. High working standards, respectful competence in corporate finance and welcoming atmosphere – that is what I found in GILD bankers.
